Chronic Illness & Burnout Therapy for Professionals

When You're Managing a Career Alongside Chronic Illness

Somatic trauma therapy for professionals, educators, and others in demanding careers who are navigating chronic illness, medical trauma, hypervigilance, and burnout.

Let’s Unburden Some of What You’re Carrying Together

You are used to being the one people count on. You manage patients, clients, students, teams, deadlines, and crises, and you have probably become very good at appearing fine while managing more than anyone can see.

But chronic illness makes everything cost more. An ordinary day can leave you wiped out for days. You may be constantly calculating what you can afford to give, what it will cost you later, and how to keep functioning when rest does not feel like a real option.

Over time, that adds up. You may find yourself hypervigilant, frozen, numb, irritable, exhausted, or disconnected from your own body. Not because you're failing, but because you're navigating demands and systems that often weren't designed with chronically ill people in mind.

How We Work Together

While we can't change all the systems that perpetuate this cycle, we can work together to process some of what you've been carrying, reduce the cumulative stress and trauma load on your nervous system, and create more space for ease and possibility.

Using somatic trauma therapy approaches including EMDR, Brainspotting, and IFS, we can work toward:

Processing difficult experiences: Address medical trauma, feeling dismissed or unsupported, the grief and uncertainty of chronic illness, and the emotional toll of having to keep functioning through it all.

Reducing the burden of chronic stress: Work with the hypervigilance, anticipation, and internal pressure that can keep your nervous system in a state of overdrive.

Making room for more than survival: Alongside processing distress, we can help strengthen desired states and experiences, cultivating greater access to joy, confidence, creativity, connection, and possibility.

I know this terrain not only as a therapist, but as someone who has lived this experience and understands how chronic illness, medical trauma, and demanding work can shape the nervous system.

As a former RN, I bring an understanding of healthcare and the realities of living with complex health conditions. You don't need to give me a full medical education or justify why your experience is difficult.

My practice is grounded in disability justice. You will be met with respect, and your experiences and access needs will be taken seriously.
